About Blair Thompson

I am a Philadelphia-based costume designer and a recent graduate from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. I graduated in the Spring of 2017 with a B.A. in Theatre.

Most recently, I designed the costumes for the new, extraordinary musical in the Philly Fringe Festival, Close Your Legs, Honey. It was such a phenomenal experience being so heavily involved with this brand new musical in particular that I so heavily believe in. I'm so incredibly proud to say that I was a part of the early stages of such an incredible show and I hope to keep helping the show evolve further. It has easily become my favorite musical of all time and I can't wait for the world to inevitably fall in love with Close Your Legs, Honey like I did.

Under the mentorship of Constance Case at WCU, I've had the opportunity to be involved with nine shows in my last three years in our Theatre program. Last year, I designed the costumes for a compilation of student-written one act plays and in the spring of 2016, I co-designed the costumes for The Tempest. I was also the assistant costume designer for our productions of GhostsOnce Upon A Mattress, and The Honorable Maid. In addition to those shows, I was the head draper for Blithe Spirit and I was a stitcher in our costume shop for Company, Spoon River Project, and All's Well That Ends Well. In addition to working on these shows, I have had the pleasure of attending two corset workshops (one victorian, the other renaissance) taught by Paula Trimpey of Albright College.

Outside of theatre, I enjoy making costumes for myself, replicating TV and movie characters from shows like Game of Thrones and Westworld. I have also been taking on paid costume commissions for both cosplay and bellydancing. These costumes have helped me develop skills in embroidery, jewelry wire-working, thermo-plastic prop fabrication, and special effects makeup.
